Having a few problems with the computer/internet at the moment but was very pleased to get a message telling me that my tiger has been awarded a Highly Commended listing at the 11th Annual 'World of Coloured Pencil' exhibition which is running at the Pencil Museum in Keswick until 27 April.
Its a tiger I photographed at Antwerp Zoo last year. He was so regal sitting up high and just staring at we human visitors. Tigers have such intense stares don't they? This is coloured pencils on drafting film with a black backing sheet.
This should have been recognized the first time around as it's fabulous. You captured that regal look perfectly!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Sue, well done x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Lovely tiger. We have a tiger painting that Mike did some years back. I bought it for Matt's birthday, family discount of course LOL
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Sue! I haven't done any coloured pencil work for a few years now. Strange really when it used to be all I did.
ReplyDeleteOnly one word for this - Purrfect! May be in Keswick at the end of April so may paws for a while in the Pencil Museum to view your masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Congratulations :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ladies.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike - I don't do so much cps work as I used to but really hoping to make time to complete an entry for the UKCPS Int'l Exhibition which is being held at Patchings this year. Deadline is early June and I have at least 2 (maybe 4) commissions to finish first. Going to be busy when I get home from Fuerteventura
Gorgeous tiger! I think he looks even more regal because of the tall stance that you gave him. Very beautiful job on the eyes as well. They have a lot of depth to them
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Sue! He is lovely, looks really arrogant just as tigers should do! Don't mess with me!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love doing fur on drafting film?
Thank you Kyla. I have lots of photos of this tiger (and his mate) so they'll probably be appearing in future drawings. I have a soft spot for big cats :-)
ReplyDeleteHello Bev. Thanks for commenting. I have mixed feelings about drafting film. Love the speed with which pictures take shape but struggle with the lack of layering facility. It may be that the film I use is very old and bought on a large roll from a retired draftsman (via eBay). Maybe I should try some newer stuff and see if it takes more layers.
You did such an incredible pencil portrait of this Tiger, Sue. How I wish I was close enough to the Pencil Museum..I would love to see it in person!! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilda.
