06/09: ORANGE PEEL JEWELLERY - ULTIMATE RECYCLING

This lovely lady was enjoying herself, sitting on a bench in the sun and making roses and other little flowers/petals to be coloured and strung and made into bracelets, necklaces and earrings:

The raw material:

and two bracelets I bought for myself :-)

  1. i assume they are preserved some way or they would shrivel up and die.

  2. Time will tell Jo. She was charging peanuts for them so no great loss.

The skins are all laid out to dry in the sun (didn't show all those pics) before she does anything with them. She chatted away at great length about her technique making the roses etc but my Spanish isn't good enough to understand everything she said so I don't know how she colours them etc

  3. neat :) they might not shrink too much if she already dries them out, and could probably use food colouring to colour them, or some natural dyes would work well too.
