09/04: Niña - just about finished ... I think!

We had a busy day 'running around' yesterday - we had to go to the Air Ambulance HQ to collect some bits and bobs (for our charity work) and then made some family visits so I didn't do any drawing.

I'm now bored with this one ... its a horrible feeling that I get frequently when on the last stages of a picture and I have to be careful not to ruin it by doing something silly.      I found a mount/frame at home that I think will work with the drawing and these are just laid loosely over the picture to show the effect.

Now I realise I really ought to add a little more detail to 'ground' her ... maybe just a suggestion of shadow or a few floor tiles but I've decided not to attempt a full background at this stage.

So there'll be a final progress picture soon ....

  1. Yes, I agree, a few floor tiles would be a good idea. She looks like she is floating in limbo at the moment. But still a lovely picture Sue.

  2. ah, that horrible bored feeling :/ never good nd is why I have many unfinished but almost finished pieces lol

she does look like she is floating, so a suggestion of a floor, either tiles or just a shadow is a good idea :)

  3. Yes, a few tiles that say 'floor' but that will sort of fade out to nothing should help ground her. I know the feeling about getting bored and fed up with a painting but this is so close to being finished, you've gotta finish it!

  5. Don't overdo it. Don't fiddle. Just a touch of something to ground her and it will be perfect.

  6. Oh my goodness, this is fabulous! I think the decision to not put in a background was perfect... it makes her stand out and lets her personality shine. This is really stunning work, Sue!
