18/09: SOFA EXHIBITION FINISHED - MY PICTURE SOLD!!
Showing this for the last time (I promise).
As part of a horrendously busy day today, we travelled to Waterloo, London to collect my picture which had been hanging in the Society of Feline Artists Exhibition which closed yesterday.
The chap I spoke to couldn't find my picture ... then having had a word with the Manager it transpired my picture had sold!!! My first sale from a London Gallery (well any 'proper' Gallery if the truth be known) so I'm very happy.
It wasn't a wasted journey as we needed to be in London to visit Richard in Hospital .... now I just have to wait for the cheque which will soon be winging its way to me!! I've done more exhibition work than usual this year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I'm still learning the tricks of the trade and the hardest bit for me is remembering the deadlines for submitting pictures to the juries. Will definitely try harder next year :o)
And today it has been confirmed that I've gained Signature Status of the UK Coloured Pencil Society and am entitled to use the letters UKCPS after my name ... but I won't let it go to my head (honestly)

Wow! Selling at a London Gallery must be an awsome feeling :) He is a very pretty kitty though :)
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful news. Both the sale and the signature. I haven't sold from a gallery yet, but hoping I will soon.
ReplyDeleteAs for deadlines I started doing using a spiral note pad:
I make a list of show's deadlines for the whole year on one page.
The a list of when to drop off and when to pick up and if they have a reception. And another page with what I want in those shows and if they got in.
It seems to help me. Plus once you do it you have something to go with to start next years.
Congratulations Sue. What a wonderful surprise for you. I am so happy for you. Way to go Sue.
ReplyDeleteHope Richard is improving.
Thanks everyone ... I didn't want to bore you all by repeating the picture but just had to share :o)
ReplyDeleteI hope I never get blase about making a sale or being accepted into a juried exhibition. For 2011 I'm going try for as many (or more) and I'll definitely adopt your idea Fay - simple but effective. I am good at meeting commission deadlines because I'd never let a client down so my early New Year's resolution is to sort myself out for the other arty stuff!
Congratulations on both fronts Sue! Wonderful to have sold in London and also at an exhibition that was only for cats with what must have been some stiff competition, so much more meaningful I would have thought.
ReplyDeleteBev
thanks Bev ... its been a great couple of weeks but back to the drawing board with a vengeance now - commission deadlines deadlines looming :o)
ReplyDeleteSue! I'm so absolutely thrilled for you! Congratulations for the sale but also for your signature status, you must be on Cloud 9.
ReplyDeleteAs you once said to me, are you going to speak to us "underlings" now? lol
Of course I am ... but you may have to phone for an appointment :o)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, its been a great couple of weeks but everything is back 'to normal' now (whatever normal is). I've been working on the 'human' portraits which are required for an October wedding present and need to have them finished/approved next week. Can't post anything yet though.
Congratulations Sue - thats great news :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lene :o)
