14/09: GREY HORSE (FINAL)? UPDATE

I've called a halt here and emailed a scan to Teco's owner so just awaiting her feedback as to whether she'd like anything 'tweaked' before I spray lightly with fixative.   Even with these sanded papers which hold pastel nicely I like to add a little extra protection against accidental smudging ... pastel paintings are a little vulnerable until safely framed behind glass.

Here's a slightly earlier picture I took, with a mount laid over the top - once I photographed it I realised I hadn't drawn the whiskers in ..... oops!   I've kept the photo though to illustrate how P'tang (Teco) will 'sit' in the mount/frame.

So .... nothing more to be done on this till I hear back from his owner.    The pastels will go away and I'll get back to the coloured pencil 'people' portraits for a couple of hours now.

Really, really nice Sue. I love his eye and the bg colour works extremely well. Is it Pastelmat?

Thanks for commenting Bev and Sunny - he's a very handsome horse isn't he and I understand a very good jumper - he is 18 years young but doesn't look it!

Bev this is Sennelier Pastel card in the colour they describe as 'dark blue grey' so its perfect for light coloured subjects

Beautiful portrait, and lovely colors ;)

Thank you Lene.

I've found out that his owner is on holiday till later this month so don't know if this is finished until I hear back in due course.

Onwards and upwards then :o)

That's beautiful Sue. I'm sure your client will be thrilled. When I first read your post I thought it said 'Tesco's owner...' and thought Blimey, that's a good customer to have!

Yeah .... that would be something wouldn't it. I just checked Wikipedia (for what its worth) and found Tescos CEO, Terry Leahy apparently earns £1.3m per year ...

Beautiful Sue, hope they are pleased.

Thanks Pauline, Kay and Sam. The hardest thing now will be to avoid 'fiddling' with it till I hear back from the client.

Oh WOW - I haven't seen many pastels done in black and white (or is it grey and white), but this is so effective - I love it very much Sue!!! :)

Thanks Karen
I completed this using mostly white/s, grey/s, blue/s and ochre colours. The background paper colour is dark blue/grey so it is quite a restricted palette. I had so much fun with this portait and just hope that it meets with approval

Thanks Jan. According to the 'out of office' email I received - she's back at work on 22nd so I'll hopefully get some feedback next week.
