06/04: I'M LATE, I'M LATE

Well I thought the title was appropriate as its Easter and White Rabbit time ....   and I'm running late.   We're flying off to our house on Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, at 6.20 tomorrow (leaving home at 2.30am) and I'm just starting to do the housework before our sitter arrives tomorrow and sort out the packing.

In our case the packing is just what goodies we can fit into hand luggage and this time we're taking daffodils, gammon joints and OXO cubes (for a friend), cheddar cheese, baking trays and bun tins (cheaper and nicer than the ones we can buy there) and hot cross buns.  If there's spare capacity I'll take some paperback books also.

Anyway, just a very quick post to show the little bit of extra work done on 'Sax on the Beach' ... I'm beginning to like him better now that more colour/depth is helping to pull it together a bit - and detract from that blooming saxaphone that I struggled with.

  1. It really is an amazing piece, Sue. I just love this one. You almost always add an extra element of interest as you have done with this saxophone. His eyes make me swoon!

  3. Lucky you, I've so had it with winter. Your saxophonist reminds me of someone but I'm damned if I can think who it is. I think it's a great picture.

  4. I can understand bringing OXO cubes, they are the best for what they do, but can you not get gammon there?

  5. We're here and the weather is warm but cloudy but forecast is good for the next few days at least!

Hi Jennifer, you can only buy oxo cubes and gammon in the 'British Stores' at vastly inflated prices. Not a thing you find in the supermarkets or butchers normally. It doesn't bother me as I'll eat whatever the locals sell/eat (within reason) but for our expat friends they sometimes just fancy a treat or something from England they can't easily get here.

  6. First of all, the girl with the red hat is outstanding Sue! I'm not sure how I missed the process!
She's beautiful and the details are amazing as always in your paintings. I love how your Sax on the beach is coming along. I look forward to seeing your next post! Enjoy your time away!!! Stay safe!!
